Ashley sat with Taste of Country and provided further information about her life-threatening heart disease diagnosis.

A condition known as Brugada syndrome is responsible for this," Ashley explained to the source. "Many of my relatives died suddenly, despite being fit and youthful due to it. It’s quite frightening.

A 28-year-old explained that she had several electrocardiogram (ECG) tests, used to identify Brugada syndrome. The initial two tests did not provide clear results, but after additional examinations, medical professionals finally confirmed her condition. She is currently collaborating with a heart specialist and undergoing further evaluations to gain better insight into her health status.

According to John Hopkins Medicine Brugada syndrome is an inherited condition that may cause a life-threatening abnormal heart rhythm. This happens when "the lower parts of the heart (called ventricles) contract rapidly and unpredictably," disrupting proper blood flow throughout the body. The condition can be deadly, potentially causing loss of consciousness or death due to cardiac arrest, particularly during sleep or relaxation. It is sometimes referred to as sudden, unexpected nighttime death syndrome since individuals affected by it might pass away while asleep.

This condition is uncommon, impacting approximately five individuals out of every 10,000 globally. Although the illness has a genetic basis and may be passed down through families, it can also occur spontaneously. Certain signs include Cleveland Clinic including heart palpitations, trouble breathing, and lightheadedness. In certain cases, individuals may not experience any signs at all. At present, there is no known remedy for the condition, although measures can be taken to prevent its severity, such as using an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) that identifies the onset of irregular heartbeats along with specific medications like Isoproterenol and Quinidine.

Ashley discussed how she didn't have any noticeable signs of the condition and wasn't aware of it until she received her diagnosis.

It's wild how it actually doesn’t affect much of my everyday routine," she said. "That’s what makes Brugada syndrome so frightening. It's like having a ghost lurking nearby. There are no warnings, no indications. It's one of those situations where suddenly, something within your heart can cease functioning, and then you’re simply gone.

It's frightening," Ashley went on, admitting, "It doesn't affect anything I do, or how I operate, until one day, it might just change everything.

An artist from "Your Place" mentioned that she continues to learn more about Brugada syndrome and is taking active steps to address the possible serious challenges. She also told the publication that she is focusing on her family, particularly her mother, who was recently admitted to the hospital due to intense chest discomfort.

"Clearly, four months prior, she had a heart attack, so we just said, 'Alright, let's move quickly, take her to the hospital,'” Ashley remembered. “They mentioned they weren’t sure—it might have been a muscle cramp or similar. Fortunately, it didn’t require urgent surgical intervention.”

Ashley's mom was discharged from the hospital and managed to attend Ashley's show at the Grand Ole Opry just a few days later. She described the event as an eye-opening moment that made her realize the fragility of life for her parents and reminded her to cherish every day spent with them and her family members.

Everything's fine, but it was definitely unsettling," she remarks, "It makes you realize that your parents might suddenly not be around anymore, and that's really frightening.
