Busta Rhymes, Clipse & a Star Athlete Take the Stage at 2025 ESPYs

Rapper Busta Rhymes , hip-hop duo Clipse , rapper and singer Tobe Nwigwe and basketball player-turned-rapper LiAngelo Ball - who performs rap using the stage name GELO - are scheduled to take the stage at the 2025 ESPY Awards. The event is set for Wednesday (July 16) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Nwigwe, along with David Michael Wyatt, will be performing the In Memoriam segment. This section is anticipated to feature prominent individuals like soccer player Diogo Jota, former boxer and pitchman George Foreman, and baseball legend Bob Uecker. Comedian, actor, and podcaster Shane Gillis will be hosting the program.
Clipse, made up of brothers Pusha T and Malice, launched their fourth studio album, Let Heaven Judge Them Allow God to Determine Their Fate Leave It Up to Divine Judgment God Will Handle Them Divine Justice Will Take Care Of Them The Almighty Will Decide Trust That God Will Set Things Right It’s Up To The Lord To Sort Them Out May God Be The Arbiter Let The Higher Power Deal With Them on Friday. This is the pair's first full-length record in almost 16 years.
GELO launched his first single "Tweaker" on January 3rd. The track made its debut and reached number 29 on the Hot 100 list later that same month. A remix including Lil Wayne came out on February 7. "Tweaker" will appear on GELO's first album, League of My Own which is set for release on July 18 via Def Jam.
Ball attended college basketball at UCLA in 2017 before turning professional with the Los Angeles Ballers, Queensboro Swarm, and Astros de Jalisco in Mexico. His elder sibling, Lonzo, plays as a point guard for the Chicago Bulls, whereas his younger brother, LaMelo, serves as a point guard for the Charlotte Hornets.
Busta Rhymes, Clipse, and Nwigwe have each been nominated for Grammys before.
ABC has broadcasted the ESPY Awards annually since 2015 (with the exception of 2020, the pandemic year, when the event was shown on ESPN).
Serena Williams hosted last year's ESPYs. Ciara served as the opening musical performer.
The 2025 ESPY Awards will take place on Wednesday, July 16, and will be aired live on ABC starting at 8:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM CT. The event will also be accessible via streaming on ESPN+ following the same schedule as ABC broadcasts in different time zones. Additionally, the ESPYs can be watched on demand the following day through Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+.
