A Magical Night Out: Food, Music, and Community at The Fillin' Station
CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tennessee (WKRN) — In the charming downtown area of Kingston Springs, you can stroll through open garage doors and enter a bar offering burgers, beer, and music. This local gem has become a beloved spot that has grown over the last 20 years.
In 2003, Patrick Weickenand ended up leasing a 600-square-foot, 1930s-era vacant gas station.
It was a friend of mine who convinced me to do it," Weickenand stated. "I had no intention of doing this.
He had a clear vision and purpose, restored the space, installed a grill, added four stools, and opened the garage door for The Fillin' Station. Customers arrived, drawn by the aroma of burgers and quesadillas along with the sounds of music.
Some time later, The Fillin' Station relocated to a new structure adjacent to their previous location.
"And I'm still here—twenty-two years later," Weickenand stated.
Weicken contributed to designing the new area, but the artwork adorning the walls consists of items provided by customers. It pays tribute to the establishment's origins as a gas station—such as using car hoods to showcase which artists are performing nightly.
He mentioned that there is an extensive list of individuals eager to perform at The Fillin’ Station. Weickenand has a background in music.
"I'm familiar with many musicians," Weickenand stated.
On certain evenings, you could potentially catch him playing the harmonica near the bar while he handles customer requests and serves beverages.
