Fall High School Program Launch: Students Step Out of Classrooms to Dive Into Career Explorations

The Baldwin Whitehall school administrators have dubbed it the fusion program. Set to commence this autumn, it will enable pupils to engage in traditional classroom activities as well as venture off-campus to investigate potential career paths.

"It’s the age-old question we've been asking children for generations: 'What do you aspire to be when you become an adult?' and 'What path will you choose after graduating from high school?'" stated Brandon Whitfield, who serves as the assistant principal at Baldwin High School.

This response seldom alters since many people usually admit that they are unaware of it. This is precisely why the Baldwin-Whitehall School District is initiating a fresh initiative aimed at juniors and seniors.

We aim to provide them with career exploration chances, allowing them to learn within our organization prior to leaving," explained Dr. Kara Eckert, deputy superintendent of the district. "If they wish to delve into college studies, join the workforce, or enter the military, we offer these options so they can test their interests without investing substantial funds prematurely or making misguided choices.

This initiative would enable students to enroll in up to two online courses with instructor assistance. While attending these virtual classes, they could collaborate with local organizations as interns.

"Each child has a different learning style, so this provides them with the chance to learn according to their own speed and with adaptability," Whitfield stated.

The district aims to challenge conventional norms by introducing this concept to community partners on Monday, seeking their support for accepting the interns.

There has been an overwhelming response from students, with 150 individuals expressing their desire to be part of this new initiative.

"We simply want our students to realize that learning extends beyond the confines of our high school," Dr. Eckert stated.

In order to get the program off the ground for the fall, the district does need partners willing to take some of the interns and follow their guidelines. If you are interested, you can give the district a call.
